Coast Guard puts up sub-station in Sta. Cruz

STA. CRUZ, DAVAO DEL SUR July 08 (PIA) – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Davao Station has established an operational sub-station in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

It is manned by two personnel headed by Sub-Station Commander SN1 Glenn Mark Callano, the sub-station is based in the compound of the Municipal Training Center in Sta. Cruz.

The Sta. Cruz sub-station is the third sub-station established by PCG in Davao del Sur starting March this year, the other two are being located in the municipalities of Malalag and Malita.

Part of the mandates of the PCG is to enforce laws within the municipal waters of Sta. Cruz comprising eleven (11) coastal barangays.

The PCG is also tasked to conduct maritime security operations in coordination with local law enforcement agencies, assist search and rescue operations during disasters and to protect marine environment and resources.

With a vast coast line of the municipality of Sta. Cruz from Barangay Inawayan to Barangay Bato approximately stretching some 30 kilometers, the putting up of a PCG sub-station is another good thing that happened in Sta. Cruz. (CDIO-Sta. Cruz/Julius R. Paner)
