DAVAO DEL NORTE, July 17 (PIA) - - - In celebration of the 65th anniversary of Barangay New Visayas, the City Government of Panabo, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), conducted on Tuesday (July 15) a Job Fair at the Davao del Norte State College (DNSC).
Dizon Namuag, barangay captain of New Visayas, said that for five years, the barangay government unit partnered with the PESO for the conduct of the Job Fair in the barangay.
Namuag disclosed that main reason why we conduct the job fair and probably the reason of our partnership with the PESO was to promote the state college.
He added that the state college has great potential as a source of human resource and it can also help the school in assessing its curriculum based on the needs of the industry present during the job fair.
Among the 268 participants, 65 Panaboans were hired on the spots, 57 for local employment and eight for overseas.
According to PESO report, 11,684 jobs (3,637 local jobs and 8,047 overseas jobs) were solicited from the 29 employments agencies.
Aside from the Job Fair, other national and local government agencies also offered their services during the celebration.
The identified agencies were City Civil Registrar (CCR), National Statistics Office (NSO), Philippine Health Insurance Company (PHIC/PHILHEALTH), Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF/PAG-IBIG), Commission on Election (COMELEC), Social Security System (SSS) and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
