CITY, Feb 17 (PIA) Tourism officials in the region looked forward that the
Visit Davao Fun Sale will boost the tourism industry that will run from March
to May this year.
Visit
Davao Fun Sale chair Benjie Lizada said it will be the second year when
stakeholders in the tourism industry converge to participate in the activities
that will revolve in sports and adventure, culture and arts, party fun and
leisure.
He
said they will be expanding participation not only on organizations but also
the local governments of the Island Garden City of Samal and Davao del Sur.
“We
run out of time to deal with Davao Oriental but we intend to get their
involvement next year,” Lizada said.
He
said that eventually the VDFS will expand outside Davao City in the future
knowing the vast tourism potentials in many areas of the region.
Roberto
Alabado, director of the Department of Tourism 11 knew that summer is always
the time to go around among Filipinos.
He
said it is a season to take advantage of the summer so that people around the
country can enjoy Davao Region.
Alabado
said the DOT gives more time to Davao Oriental to prepare for inclusion in the
VDFS.
“Many
tourism infrastructures in Davao Oriental will be inaugurated this year,” he
said.
Alabado
said that the tourist attractions like Mt. Hamiguitan and the Aliwagwag Falls
will be opened this year, consequently making Davao Oriental a tourist
destination to be included in the VDSF in 2017.
He
said the VDSF packages the whole region as a tourist destination as many
stakeholders earn from the tourism receipts.
City
Tourism Officer Lisette Marques assured to provide more assistance to the
holding of the VDSF.
She
said the influx of tourist impacts on the local economy by bringing income to
