MAGSAYSAY, Davao del Sur, Nov. 26 – The
Department of Social Welfare and Development has released Thursday here about
PhP5.3-million to more than 2,000 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang
Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Since the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) account
at the Land Bank of the Philippines to every beneficiary has been cancelled,
the releasing was through cash basis with the assistance of the DSWD-4Ps staff,
local government unit and the Philippine National Police who will secure the
area.
The 4Ps, aimed at reducing poverty incidence in
the country, will end just as President Benigno Aquino III would vacate his
post in 2016.
Despite the scorching heat of the sun,
beneficiaries sacrificed themselves to fall in line just to get the priority
numbers to receive the cash assistance from the national government.
Taking advantage of the releasing, vendors
displayed their wares outside the municipal site. (CDIO-Magsaysay/Anthony S.
