CARMEN, Davao del Norte, November 5 (PIA) - - A public high
school in Carmen received yesterday 12 rolls of insecticide treated screens
from the Department of Health.
During the launching of the Brigada Kalinisan and Dengue Prevention
Campaign, DOH Region XI Director Abdullah Dumama Jr. turned over P85,900 worth
of screens to Tubod National High School.
Carmen Sanitation Inspector Lovely Mae Antic revealed that
Tubod was chosen because of the high index of suspected cases of dengue in the
community.
“Actually sa Tubod nag-peak siya last August, wala pa koy
exact data ana; and then ninghilom siya September, October ug karon bago lang
ningbalik kay naay mga na-admit tungod sa dengue,” Antic said. (Actually,
in Tubod, it (dengue cases) peaked on August; I still don’t have the exact data
yet. And then it went quiet on September and October but re-occured just
recently because there were reports of admission due to dengue.)
Director Dumama reminded that public that the solution to
fight against dengue is still prevention.
“Kalinisan lamang ho ang kalaban ng dengue,” Dumama
emphasized. (Cleanliness is the only rival of dengue.)
He said that the community should all together fight against
dengue through cleaning their own backyard.
“Siguraduhin lamang ninyo na walang tubig sa alulod,
vases, tansan, tires at iba pa na pwedeng pamumugaran ng lamok na Aedis.”
(Ensure that there is no water in the rain pipes, cases, bottlecaps, tires and
others that can be a breeding ground for Aedis mosquito.) (PIA11, Michael Uy)
