10,000 tilapia fingerlings dispersed to Davao Sur town

MAGSAYSAY, Davao del Sur, Nov. 26 – The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region XI has dispersed 10,000 tilapia fingerlings to two lakes at Datal Lanao, Upper Asbang Elok in Barangay Tagaytay here Wednesday afternoon.

Through the Municipal Agriculture Office, the local government of Magsaysay availed the tilapia fingerlings dispersal program of the Department of Agriculture through BFAR-XI.

The dispersal was part of the long-term plan of the local government to save lakes which have been being illegally-fished by residents in the area.

The community members in the area were made to understand that they should be the one taking charge to monitor the area in prohibiting the illegal fishing and throwing of garbage.

More than a month ago, a tree planting was also held around the lakes to give sheds in the area. (CDIO-Magsaysay/Anthony S. Allada)
