ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF
SAMAL, November 5 --- The Philippine
Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in collaboration with City
Health Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development and Local Civil
Registrar of Island Garden City of Samal conducted the Philhealth Caravan
dubbed as Alaga Ka Program in Samal Gym, Penaplata, Samal District
last October 28, 2015.
About 900
PhilHealth members attended the program and availed the various services
offered such as medical check-up, laboratory services, profiling, amendments of
Philhealth documents, processing with regards to Local Civil Registry and
medicine dispense.
The program Alaga Ka is
a multi-sectoral advocacy campaign spearheaded by PhilHealth dubbed as
Alaga Ka Para sa Maayos na Buhay. It was first launched on March 2014
under Republic Act 7875 which states: An act instituting a National
Health Insurance Program for all Filipinos and establishing the Philippine
Health Insurance Corporation for the purpose.
It aims to promote the
indigent families with greater access to primary health care services
especially that the government recognizes the health of the people as a big
factor for the country’s development. The collaboration of its partnered
agencies is to make sure that each indigent member are properly informed and
instructed on how to avail basic health services within their vicinity.

panggamhanan aron ang programang Alaga ka daghan pa og matabangan ug
makabenipisyo ilabi na alang sa atong mga igsoong kabus” (Philhealth will
continue in expressing a united effort with the national and local
government so that the program will benefit the many especially our poor
constituents) said Jonas Matthew Pang, representative of
PhilHealth Regional Vice President Dennis B. Andre.
The program includes the
ceremonial distribution and turnover of PhilHealth ID card, Member Data Record
and Per Family Payment (PFP) among the members. (Samal Info)
