PROVINC OF DAVAO DEL NORTE, Oct. 03— As peace makes
significant headway in Davao Oriental, the provincial government highlighted
the positive effect it has made in boosting local economic development, during
the culmination of the Peace Month Celebration on Tuesday, September 30.
Vice Governor Joel ‘Mayo’ Z. Almario lauded the ceaseless
efforts of the Provincial Local Government Unit, under the leadership of Gov.
Corazon N. Malanyaon, who evidently made Davao Oriental a promising hub for
business.
According to the vice governor, the ‘insurgency-free’ state
here attracted more prospects for investment of large businesses. In his
message, he cited one giant corporate hotel in the country that has been eyeing
the province for a possible business expansion.
Aside from that, massive local developments through
provincial government initiatives have been drawing more businesses to locate
here as the provincial government has been expediting projects touted to
support economic revolution, particularly on tourism and agriculture.
Among these many initiatives are the tourism facility
development in different sites around the province, including the Aliwagwag
Protected Landscape and the recently UNESCO-inscribed property—the Mt.
Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary. Another initiative is the big-ticket
irrigation project in Cateel touted to boost agricultural productivity.
Given that, the Vice Governor Almario urged people to
support these endeavors as ‘it triggers more economic and social opportunities’.
Meanwhile, Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon, in a message
conveyed by Provincial Administrator, Alex Lipae, said that investing in peace
efforts is truly a rewarding one as it elicits development for the people.
