Tagum City LGU calls for peace and security workshop

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, October 14 (PIA) The city government of Tagum has called for a peace and security workshop on October 17 to come up with genuine solutions to solve the criminal incidents besetting the area.

Speaking at the Biz Talk @ Big Eight, Mayor Allan Rellon said the workshop will involve the 23 barangay chairs, police, military, business, transport groups and critics of his governance in the mainstream and broadcast media.

He said the workshop does not mean that the local government has exhausted its strategies in fighting crime.

Rellon said that initially, the participants will have a briefing on the security situation particularly on the crime incidents in their area of responsibility.

“The assumption will be that the participants are aware of the situation and they will help in coming up with concrete means to address the peace and order problem.  It is good that people will own the solution while we in government implement them,” Rellon said.

Even then, he assured the peace and security of the city despite incidents like the latest heist that happened recently.

He said more investors are coming in and no one has backed out to do business in the city.

Rellon said democracy works in Tagum given the criticisms aired through media.

He said he just needs to strive harder to serve more the people.

“Tagum City remains relatively peaceful and you are all invited to come here,” Rellon said.  (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
