DAVAO CITY, Oct 20 (PIA) The military assured its
readiness to maintain the security of the city in time for the holding of the
Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines East Asian Growth Area Trade Fair and
Business Leaders’ Conference from October 23 to October 26, 2014.
Captain Mario Tena, civil-military operations officer of the
Task Force Davao said their unit coordinates closely with the city government
and the Davao City Police Office in its target-hardening measures particularly
on places of convergence.
He said more troops will be assigned in the city serving as
troop multipliers of the TF Davao.
“The reservists under the 110th Civil Defense Company will be
deployed side by side with our troops,” Tena said.
He said the Eastern Mindanao Command has assigned two of its
naval patrol boats to guard the city’s coastline while the 10th Infantry
Division will also deploy one composite company to strengthen the fixed and
mobile checkpoints.
Tena said the composite team has armored vehicles ready to stop
any form of harassment, and is also trained in urban search and rescue
operations.
“Our troops are highly trained and ready to respond to any
threat before it reaches the city,” he said.
