TF Davao prepares of the holding of the BIMP-EAGA business leaders' confab slated this week



DAVAO CITY, Oct 20  (PIA) The military assured its readiness to maintain the security of the city in time for the holding of the Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines East Asian Growth Area Trade Fair and Business Leaders’ Conference from October 23 to October 26, 2014.

Captain Mario Tena, civil-military operations officer of the Task Force Davao said their unit coordinates closely with the city government and the Davao City Police Office in its target-hardening measures particularly on places of convergence.

He said more troops will be assigned in the city serving as troop multipliers of the TF Davao.

“The reservists under the 110th Civil Defense Company will be deployed side by side with our troops,” Tena said.

He said the Eastern Mindanao Command has assigned two of its naval patrol boats to guard the city’s coastline while the 10th Infantry Division will also deploy one composite company to strengthen the fixed and mobile checkpoints.

Tena said the composite team has armored vehicles ready to stop any form of harassment, and is also trained in urban search and rescue operations.

“Our troops are highly trained and ready to respond to any threat before it reaches the city,” he said. 

Earlier, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte ordered all police and military units in the region to ensure the safety and security of the public all the time. (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
