Sta. Cruz farmers complete pest management on cacao

STA. CRUZ, Davao del Sur, Oct. 13 (PIA) – A 16-week Farmers Field School on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for cacao farmers has recently concluded Friday last week (Oct. 10) at Luwago, Tagabuli, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Some 31 farmer-cooperators completed the course facilitated by the Municipal Agriculture Office of Sta. Cruz, the Department of Agriculture, Provincial Agriculture Office and the Philippine Coconut Authority.

Councilor Ronald Cruda, chairperson on Agriculture Committee, said the IPM is one of the opportunities provided by the government to the farmers and it’s up for the farmers to beat this opportunity.

The IPM is a program of the national government that intends to promote agricultural productivity through natural farming methods. It discourages the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. (CDIO-Sta. Cruz/Julius R. Paner)
