Island Garden City of Samal, October 20, 2014 - After
a month of continuous inter-color team competition of indoor and
outdoor games, the Blue lions team emerged champion in the recently
concluded IGaCoS Employees “Paugnat sa Kusog 2014”
(sportsfest) garnering 810 total points beating the gray tamaraws,
yellow tigers, and red dragons teams at kaputian Beach Park, Kaputian
District on October 10.
The gray tamaraw team landed first runner-up scoring 660 points while
yellow tiger placed second runner-up with a point score of 650 and red
dragon team third for scoring 635 points.
The Blue lion team composed with offices of the City Engineer, City
Health and City Environment and Natural Resources and City Accountant
while the Gray tamaraw team included City General Services, City
Assessor, City Treasurer, City Human Resources and City Budget office;
the Yellow Tiger Team included the office of the City Mayor, City
Planning and Development, City Legal and City Social Welfare and
Development and the Red dragon consisted the offices of the Sangguniang
Panlungsod, City Tourism, City Agriculture and City Civil Registrar and
City Veterinarian.
The Sports fest is an annual activity of the city initiated by City
Mayor Aniano P. Antalan aimed to provide recreational activity for the
employees giving them a chance to show and to recognize their skills in
the field of sports and also allowing them to go out from their
respective offices and mingle with co- employees by participating in any
indoor or outdoor games competition. The activity could help develop
camaraderie, sportsmanship and employees physical exercises suited to
the theme “Trabaho Garantisado Sa Baskog Nga Empleyado ”.
“Kada tuig naa tay sportfest, it is mandated by law. Ang kabaskog sa
panglawas ug kaabtik sa panghuna-huna sa matag empleyado sigurado ang
maayong serbisyo sa katawhan.”. (Every year we conducted sport fest as
mandated by law. The employee who is physically fit and has mental
alertness can absolutely provide good services to people.) City Mayor
Antalan said.
Antalan emphasized the importance of perseverance and participation
of employees in any sports activities. In his closing address, he
announced that Larong Pinoy will be played in next sportsfest to fit
employees with health and age difficulties .
The champion Blue team received a cash prized of P 10,000 while the
gray Tamaraw team received P7,000.00; Yellow tiger team received
P5,000.00 and red dragon team received P3,000.00 cash respectively.
Ms. Ginaphine C. Canete and Engr. Mathew F. Arig were chosen as the
Most Valuable Player, for women and men and received a certificate
Appreciation and cash prize award.
The employees representing their team color enthusiastically and
actively participated in every game competitions, hoping to win and add
points to the team and aim for the prize in a fair play and friendly
competition, on the other hand, non-players keep on monitoring the team
score while others just have fun watching, cheering and giving moral
