DAVAO DEL NORTE, Oct. 8 (PIA)--- The provincial government now
integrates its Spiritual and Moral Recovery Program (SMRP) to the
Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) implementation in Davao del
Norte, reaching out around 43,000 households.
Referred to as Moral Recovery coordinators, some 160
community church leaders, lay ministers from various religious
denominations attended today’s seminar on Mainstreaming of SMRP into 4Ps
held at the GSP Hall, Provincial Government Center in Tagum City.
Speaking
on behalf of Provincial Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario, executive
assistant Sofonias Gabonada viewed the SMRP as the “missing link” to
make 4Ps a “wholistic” approach to poverty alleviation.
“The provincial government looks at values formation as very vital to the program,” he said referring to 4Ps.
In a separate interview, SMRP Provincial Coordinator Edwin P. Santos
revealed that the Memorandum of Agreement earlier signed by Gov. Del
Rosario with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
provided for “values formation and education” which SMRP can satisfy
such requirement.
To reach out to all 4Ps beneficiaries, the provincial government
in coordination with the city and municipal governments will deploy some
160 SMRP coordinators who are pastors and lay leaders to teach
responsible parenting, gender and development, disaster preparedness and
home financial management.
“We will just follow the curriculum prescribed under 4Ps,”he said in an interview.
With about two SMRP coordinators per barangay, Santos was sure that
the strength moral recovery coordinators can cover the 43,000 households
of 4Ps beneficiaries province-wide. (PIA/MDA)
