DAVAO DEL NORTE, October 2 (PIA) - - The Davao del Norte provincial
police force headed by Police Senior Supt. Samuel Gadingan stormed the
streets earlier today not to conduct an inspection checkpoint but to
post stickers of police hotline numbers to the public utility vehicles
(PUVs).
The police personnel assigned in the province
halted buses, tricycles and multicabs plying the national highway to
post stickers of police hotline numbers.
PNP Provincial
Director Samuel Gadingan said that two months ago, the Provincial
Advisory Council (PAC) recommended for the posting of the stickers and
today is the launching of the said activity.
Dir.
Gadingan said that the activity is simultaneously done in the province
of Davao del Norte, wherein the police stations also posted same
stickers in PUVs and conspicuous places.
The stickers
contained the hotline number of the respective police station and the
Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office (DNPPO).
“We
deem it necessary to have the hotline numbers posted for our
constituents to immediately report through texting any crime in their
area for our police to also respond,” PSSupt. Gadingan said.
Gadingan stressed that the civilians play an important role in crime busting.
“The
civilians are our extenders in the community since we cannot secure all
corners in our area due to the deficiency in the number of police
personnel,” he added.
During the posting, Mar Nel
Apuyao, a tricycle driver, was more than willing to post the sticker
even assisting the police personnel in placing it.
“Mas
maayo kini kay nagkadaghan na ang krimen dinhi sa atong dakbayan,”
Apuyao said. (This is better since the number of crimes is increasing in
our city.)
Joining the police in the posting were PAC
Chairperson and Board Member Shirley Aala, PAC Vice Chairperson Cesar
Cuntapay and other members of the Provincial Advisory Council. (PIA 11,
