Rellon highlights God-centered, good governance in pastors' forum

TAGUM CITY—Reporting before pastors and lay ministers, Mayor Allan L. Rellon reported the significant achievements of his administration following the principles of God-centered and good governance.

In a 45-minute address delivered by the Mayor during the city-organized God-Centered and Good Governance Stakeholders Forum, Thanksgiving and Fellowship Night last November 10, 2014 at Big 8 Corporate Hotel, the local chief executive heralded the achievements of the city under his watch that was spurred by the full-swing implementation of the EAGLE WINGS Program, the ten-point development agenda of his administration.

Mayor Rellon's presentation centered on the gains of his God-centered and good governance that resulted to achievements in education, employment, culture, agriculture, environment, peace and order, livelihood, tourism, economy, affordable taxation, wellness, sports, health, infrastructure, NGO and cooperative empowerment and social services.

A total of 375 pastors and lay ministers attended the forum, which was organized by Mayor Rellon as a way of highlighting the role of pastors from different religious groups as the local government's staunch allies in maintaining a government that is God-centered.

"May this presentation spark a call for action amongst you to join us in our ultimate goal in making Tagum a better place to live in," stressed Mayor Rellon.

Prior to this, the newly-organized Tagum for Peace Movement, which is the confederation of all pastor leaders in the city, holds a monthly dialogue with Mayor Rellon to thresh out issues that concern them and the local government as well.

Mayor Rellon considered this as a vital component in achieving "check and balance" in his governance, citing his principle of participatory governance in all the undertakings of the local government.

"The seeds of change and good governance have been planted and have started to bear fruit. But a lot more still remains to be done," he told the audience, which he also rallied for support for Tagum's "journey towards development."

Aside from the Mayor's presentation, there was also a thanksgiving prayer that was offered for Tagum's achievements and invoking divine intervention in the future undertakings of the city. Louie Lapat of CIO Tagum
