DAVAO CITY- The MindaDOST Cluster Science and Technology Fair was
opened yesterday (Nov. 13) at SMX Davao.
This is a three-day event which will run until the 15th features
S&T innovations that falls under the eight
outcomes identified by the Department of Science and Technology that are
feasible ways to become a Science Nation ultimately contributing to the overall
competitiveness of the country in the global arena.
These eight DOST outcomes or priorities are upgrading agricultural
productivity, technology for Micro, Small, Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs),
state-of-the art facilities for localindustries to improve competitiveness,
being a global leader in information communications, technology,
ICT-based transformation of governance, improved quality healthcare,
highly-skilled and globally competitive S&T human resources and
science-based weather information and climate change scenarios.
The opening was graced by DOST Secretary Mario Montejo alongside
undersecretaries and regional directors of the DOST.
The event will also feature S&T lectures. On the 14th lectures
will tackle Trends
on Appropriate Packaging Technologies;
Food Safety for Food Service Establishment; Energy
Conservation Awareness.
While on the 15th the lectures
will be on Project NOAH Hydraulic and Hydrologic Characterization for
Remediation Technologies; Action Plan on Municipal Solid Waste Management and
Landfill in the Philippines; and The
Magical World of Science.
