DavOr, DSWD join hands in giving away shelters to typhoon Pablo victims



DAVAO CITY, November 24 (PIA) Davao Oriental Governor Corazon Malanyaon guaranteed to provide shelter to all families affected by typhoon Pablo on December 4, 2012 in the towns of Banganga, Cateel and Boston.

Speaking to reporters, she said that the shelter assures affected families to be resilient.

Malanyaon said having their own homes will help the victims to strive and to realize their dreams for a better life.

She also praised the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the provincial government’s partner in the relief and rehabilitation efforts.

“The shelter is very important factor for them to strive hard and to realize their dreams,” Malanyaon said.

Social Welfare Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman said a total of 2,759 core shelters have been distributed to the typhoon victims recently, bringing to a total of 9,281 as of press time.

Five thousand ninety five house are being built currently and will be distributed to beneficiaries as soon as they are finished.

The DSWD also distributed P31-Million fund under the cash for building livelihood asset program-cash for work program which will be used in the clearing of the irrigation canals from the newly-finished Cateel-Irrigation system.  (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
