Philhealth run to benefit SOS Children’s Village

DAVAO CITY, Nov. 19 – Philhealth Regional Office XI (PRO XI) has chosen the SOS Children’s Village Davao Inc. as its local beneficiary for the anticipated nationwide running event dubbed as Philhealth Run 2015:  Ready, TSeKap, Go!

Village Director Leonilo Rivera said SOS Children’s Village is a non- profit organization that provides family-based care and education to children who are in need of a place and family to come home to.

“Currently, we have 800 community based and 182 center-based children living in the village and have raised successful graduates who are coming back as benefactors of the organization. With the growing number of children, we are very happy to be the recipient of this activity and we call out to everyone to join and run for this cause,” Rivera shared during the launch ceremony.

PRO XI which has been in the forefront of successful running activities including the Mindanao Run for Hope in 2012 and the first nationwide Philhealth Run in 2013, believes that the proceeds to be generated from the run will go a long way in making a change in the children’s lives.

PRO XI Run committee chairperson Filbert Sollesta asserted that the activity which likewise intends to increase awareness on Philhealth and its services, will make a huge impact in supporting its beneficiary’s advocacies and in sustaining the basic, medical and educational needs of the children.

Targetting at least 4,000 runners for Davao City leg alone, the run will convene at Ecoland and will stake exciting prizes in its 3k, 5k, 10k and 20k categories.

The launch ceremony last November 7 took off in sync with a Tree Planting Activity in four sites of the region - Mati, Digos, Nabunturan and Tagum; this environmental effort is another feat of a string of activities in line with Philhealth’s 20th year celebration. (PRO-11 PAU/Kleah Dublin)
