P1.241-B DavNor 2015 budget ok'd

Davao del Norte, November 19, 2014 – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Davao del Norte approved on Monday the 2015 Annual Budget of the Province of Davao del Norte in the amount of PhP1,241,100,000.

Members of the Provincial Board on their 46th Regular Session approved Provincial Ordinance No. 2014-004, enacting the budget of the province for next year.

Governor Rodolfo del Rosario expressed his gratitude to Vice Governor Victorio Suaybaguio, Jr. and the SP members for their prompt approval of the measure.

He said the budget is crucial in establishing a legacy of inclusive growth and sustainable and balanced development for the benefit of all the Dabaonon people.

The annual budget, which is 11.99 percent higher than the previous year, projected expenditures to the various sectors in line with the governor’s P.E.O.P.L.E. agenda.

Del Rosario said the budget supports his administration’s over-arching goal of “making our communities adaptive to climate change and resilient to disasters, while increasing the competitiveness of our people, both in skills and products.”
As he puts it, his administration is committed to effectively deploy scarce resources where they are needed the most, built on strong foundations of transparency, accountability, and efficiency.

Reflecting the governor’s human development priorities, P70 million or six percent of the budget is allotted to health, while P30.9 million (3%) will go to social services.

Education, culture, sports and human resource development will also get P77 million (6%); economic services - P215.8 million (17%); economic enterprise P153.9 million (12%); and, general public services - P614.4 million (50%).

The province further increased its allocation for other purposes amounting to P78.8 million, which is 695% higher than the previous year’s share of only P9,920,000.

A big chunk of the allotment for other purposes is earmarked for the five percent calamity fund that adds up to P62,055,000.00.

The disaster-resilience and climate-adaptive financing seeks to build the defenses of the province against the long-term and uncertain impacts of climate change. (Noel Baguio-PIO DavNor)
