iDesk boosts DPWH transparency

DAVAO DEL NORTE April 7, 2015 - - As part of transparency measures, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) XI mounted iDesk kiosks in its district offices.

DPWH XI Information Officer Dean Ortiz disclosed recently in their regular monthly press conference held at the Davao del Norte District Engineering Office, that out of the eights district offices in the region, five already have iDesk kiosks in their lobby.

“The kiosk utilizes an interactive touch technology that the stakeholders can browse the latest updates about the department, its performance scorecards, press releases and other information about DPWH XI,” Ortiz said.

He said that by the month of May, the department will install another kiosk in the district engineering office in Davao Oriental.

Ortiz added that the project is a pet project of DPWH XI Regional Director Mariano Alquiza, who has been advocating transparency and accountability in the department.

Dir. Alquiza bragged that upon learning about the project, DPWH Sec. Rogelio Singson recommended to replicate it to other regions.

Alquiza said that when he or the district engineers are busy, the media or any stakeholders can just browse the iDesk for any information they wanted or they could go to the regional office every Wednesday as he declares it as his day for the media.

He also said that the DPWH XI is the first to submit an annual report to the central office for the region’s projects last year. (PIA 11, Michael Uy)
