Tagum launches ‘Hugpong’ festival
TAGUM CITY, April 13, 2015 - It is a festival like no other.
The City Government of Tagum launched this week its unique festival dubbed as “Operation Hugpong Serbisyo para sa Tagumenyos Festival” which is focused on extending social services to Tagumenyos from all walks of life.
Mayor Allan L. Rellon led in the launching of the said festival on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Bincungan Elementary School where he joined volunteers in welcoming Tagumenyos wishing to avail of the long list of medical and social services offered during the month-long caravan.
The local chief executive said they are hoping to break last year’s record of 8, 437 clients served during the month-long activity, which offers services that include minor surgery, circumcision, dental services, therapeutic massage, haircut, cosmetology and random blood sugar test.
Hugpong Festival will end on May 15, 2015, according to Executive Assistant IV to the City Mayor Jalmaidi Jamiri-Morales, who acts as the over-all coordinator of the festival.
Each of the 23 barangays of Tagum will be visited by the Hugpong Caravan throughout the duration of the festival, Morales said.
She added that aside from the major services that will be offered, Tagumenyos can also avail of other services like mini jobs fair, processing of NSO and DFA documents, scholarship referrals, civil registration, COMELEC registration, PhilHealth enrolment, anti-rabies dog vaccination, and ID registration for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Information and Awareness campaigns will be held in every barangay, with topics such as HIV/AIDS/STI awareness, breast cancer early detection test, solid waste management and disposal and smoking cessation.

Pandapan), April 20 at Magugpo Pilot Central ES (Brgy. Magugpo South), April 21 at Laureta National High School (Brgy. San Miguel), April 22 at Mankilam ES (Brgy. Mankilam), April 23 at Pagsabangan ES (Brgy. Pagsabangan), April 24 at Rizal ES (Brgy. Magugpo West), April 27 at Trade Center (Brgy. Poblacion), April 28 at Suaybaguio Riña ES (Brgy.
