Duterte to hold RPOC mtg in DavNor to fully secure Palaro
DAVAO DEL NORTE, April 13 (PIA)--- To fully secure the 2015 Palarong Pambansa to start on May 3, Regional Peace and Order chairman, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will be holding a meeting with the military and the police in the Davao Region.
In his weekend television program, Serbisyo para sa Masa, Duterte revealed that this meeting set in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, was an offshoot of his talk with Davao del Norte Provincial Gov. Rodolfo P. del Rosario who told him that the physical features of the sports complex “are okey except for the peace and order”.
“So I will go to Tagum and preside over a meeting there in my capacity as chair of the Regional Peace and Order Council,” he said during his weekly TV program without revealing the date.
Noting that large bulk of the Palaro delegates will be coming in by plane, Duterte said “there will be security along the way,” and that he insisted on installing checkpoints in all routes going north and south of Tagum City where all the Palaro playing venues are located.
Meanwhile, Palarong Pambansa Secretariat head Sofonias Gabonada during the Kapihan sa NCCC in Davao City, assured the public of fully secured hosting of the Palaro by Davao del Norte.
Security teams composed of military elements, police personnel and members of the force multipliers will be deployed in all billeting areas and playing venues, he said.
On the other hand, Davao del Norte Provincial Sports Coordinator Giovanne Gulanes in the same forum revealed that perimeter fences in schools used as billeting areas of athletes were intentionally raised high to ward off thieves and to trap them, making it hard for them to scape.
Gulanes assured the public of high security standards that Davao del Norte had set as “we’ve passed the PRISAA and DAVRAA games with no problems on security,” he said referring to the Private Schools Athletic Association Meet and the Davao Region Athletic Association Meet.
