DAVAO DEL NORTE, April 27 (PIA) - - Responders from the different municipalities in this province train today at the Girls Scout of the Philippines Hall, Tagum City on handling sports injuries for the Palarong Pambansa 2015 on May 3-9.
Reden Cardinal, operations chief of the Davao del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center, said that the training will enhance the responders’ skills in rescuing individuals.
“For this Palaro, they will increase their knowledge on rescuing for they will now handle sports injuries,” Cardinal said.
He said that there are aspects of trauma responding and handling sports injuries that differ especially in taping and bandaging techniques.
The responders numbering around 30 will be deployed at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex during the Palaro Pambansa.
Cardinal said that the responders will cover all six sporting events in the complex, which are football, athletics, tennis, badminton, swimming and archery.
During the training, the participants also learn the standing rules on medical assistance on each sport.
Cardinal said that their team will be working hand in hand with the police, army and other health providers in the area.
“We also prepare contingency plan for any untoward incident that will happen outside of the game area,” he said. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
