World Vision sets voter’s education campaign in Davao


DAVAO CITY, Apr. 03 – The World Vision in partnership with the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE) is set to hold a voter’s education campaign dubbed as “Eleksyung Pinoy 2013” on Thursday (April 04, 2013) in the city.   

World Vision Advocacy Specialist in Mindanao Vina Villar said major discussions in the voter’s education include social accountability, political dynasty and party list system.

“We’d like to advocate the holding of clean, honest, orderly, peaceful and credible elections which is important for the survival and strengthening of any democratic society,” she said in a press statement.

Other topics cover basic election laws and identifying various forms of election violations and steps on how to respond those.

Villar said, “It’s a good preparation. We aim to start and grow a responsive movement of well-engaged publics responding on different issues.”

The activity will be held at Tower Inn, Quirino Avenue, Davao City, at 9:00am to 4:00pm.

World Vision supports initiatives to educate and engage the electorate in community activities and grassroots mobilization aimed at instilling the correct values and principles that would enable them to make wise decisions in choosing their leaders.

“We will endeavor to promote increased awareness of communities on their responsibilities during elections, as well as disseminate important guidelines to assist the voting public in choosing their officials,” World Vision press statement said.
