Task Force Davao vows to keep its rank clean from drug dependents


DAVAO CITY, April 17 (PIA) A military unit in-charge in the campaign against terrorism and other forms of criminality in the city vowed to keep its rank clean from dependents of illegal-drugs.

2nd Lt. Chrystin Joan Pamplona, civil-military operations officer of the Task Force Davao issued the statement after 400 of its members proved negative in the latest random drug test conducted in the contingent.

She said the random drug test covered Colonel Casiano Monilla, commander of the TF Davao down to the lowest rank and was conducted by the Task force Moses, a unit sent by the headquarters of the Philippine Army.

“As the protector of the citizen of Davao, we adhere on the strict implementation of anti-illegal drugs campaign and we ensure that our personnel are drug-free,” Pamplona said.

She explained that under the anti-drug campaign of the military which requires all soldiers and civilian employees to under drug test, any person found to have violated the law will be terminated from the service.

Pamplona said the TF Davao also peers not only on terrorism but also on drug-trafficking.

“Through this manner, we would like to let the public know of our intention that we are not just fighting terrorism but also drug trafficking which is one of the main problems in our society today,” she said.

The military is cleansing its ranks after a member of the Charlie Company 28th Infantry Battalion was arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation at Macarthur Highway here.

Pamplona said the TF Davao will continue the random drug test and no one will be exempted. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
