Comval Guv cautions public on swindlers using his name

NABUNTURAN, COMPOSTELA VALLEY, April 19 (PIA):  Compostela Valley Gov. Arturo Uy cautions the public especially the business sector from giving in to anyone who calls to ask for donation in his behalf or on behalf of the provincial government.

In a press conference Thursday,  Uy revealed that a “deception and swindling”  activity had been going on using his name and the provincial government done through phone calls to businessmen who were allegedly asked to donate.

He further revealed that he received three calls  this week from  private business establishments which would like to confirm whether he indeed had  authorized anybody to solicit in cash or in kind in contribution to on-going relief operation for Typhoon Pablo victims.

“If there would be any request from me as Governor of Compostela Valley, it should not be done through phone call.  This is made through written communication bearing my signature and official seal of the Province,” he said.

“I urge our constituents to be always watchful and cautious so that you will not be abused by this kind of crime,”  he added.

In a separate interview, he said he already tasked the Philippine National Police (PNP) to investigate the crime, “and I know that tracking down of these suspects is underway.”

Uy, however, refused to divulge the names of the three private establishment which management got in touch with him to reveal the illegal solicitation. So far, he had known yet of anybody who had given in to such crime and  shelled  out money.   (PIA XI/ Jeanevive Duron-Abangan)
