DAVAO CITY, May 20, 2015 - City officials and heads of the
revenue-generating departments of the City Government of Tagum kicked
off the budgeting process for the local government’s 2016 Budget where
it increased by more or less 34 million pesos its one billion budget for
2015.
During the one-day Budget Planning on Income Estimates held in Seda
Hotel last May 15, 2015, officials pegged the 2016 Budget of the local
government at Php 1,034,719.42, considerably higher than the 2015 budget
of Php 1,000,346.670.00.
Mayor Allan L. Rellon, who also heads the Local Finance Committee,
said the increase in the local government’s pro-people budget would
enable it to spend more on programs and projects that will have a huge
impact of the Tagumenyo constituencies.
The Budget Planning on Income Estimates activity commenced the local
government’s budgeting process, where it estimated the LGU’s income
based on the average growth rate of the actual income for the last five
years.
Among the budget estimates that were forecasted during the activity
were the city’s tax revenues, general income regulatory fees, service
income, income from the business income from asphalt operations and
share from the internal revenue allotment.
Estimated income from the operation of Tagum’s economic enterprises
composed of the public market, livestock center, slaughterhouse, public
terminal, trade center and cemetery, was also discussed during the
activity.
The final budget of the local government, however, will be finalized
once the 6th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Geterito Gementiza
scrutinizes every detail of proposed budget of the Executive Department
and approves it through an Appropriation Ordinance. (Louie Lapat/CIO
