Boy Scouts of the Phil. raises local council funds

TAGUM CITY, May 27 (PIA) - - The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) agreed during its 59th Annual Council Meeting on May 20-22 at Big8 Corporate Hotel, Tagum City to double the local council share from the members’ annual fee.

BSP Secretary General Wendel  Avisado disclosed that out of the P 50 annual fee from each member, the local council can retain P-20, a 100% increase from the current P-10.

“For the first time in the history of the organization, we are increasing the share of the local council, which they can retain immediately before remitting it to the national office,” Avisado said.

He bared that the P-50 fee is broken down to P-20 for the local council, P-5 membership fee in the world organization of the scout movement, P-5 for member’s financial assistance, and P-20 for the national office.

“Previously, it was just P-10 pesos. Then we added the P-4 national assistance for council operation, which will be abolished starting January next year; and another P-6,” he said.

Avisado said that with this additional source, the local council will have more funds for their programs and trainings.

The 59th Annual Council Meeting was attended by Vice President Jejomar Binay, who was also the BSP President, together with more than 700 BSP members in the country. (PIA 11, Michael Uy)
