Compostela Valley Province, May 20, 2015 –
Now on its “Phase-3 Typhoon Pablo Rice Rehabilitation Assistance,” the
provincial government continues to distribute the additional 10,123
sacks of Certified Rice Seeds from from the Department of Agriculture
(DA) as part of its Rebuilding and Recovery efforts
First off are the Nabunturan rice farmers who receive the 1,923 bags
of free Certified Rice Seed during the “2015 Farmers and Fisherfolk
Month” celebration held at the capitol on May 12, 2015. They also
receive 400 laminated sacks (trapal) at 10 meters each.
According to Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Rolando Simene, the rest of
the certified rice seeds will be distributed this month among Rice
Farmers in the barangays of Nabunturan, Maragusan, Compostela, Mawab,
Monkayo, Montevista, Laak, and New Bataan.
Leading the observance of the Farmers and Fisherfolks Month are Vice
Gov. Manuel “Way kurat” Zamora, Board Member Macario Humol, and Senior
Board Member Tyron Uy who represents and gives the message in behalf of
Gov. Arturo “Chiongkee” Uy.
Present also are DA-XI Field Office Crops Division Chief Rose P.
Mediano and DA-XI Agriculture and Fishery Council Chair Armando Ansinco.
Attended by about 250 Rice Farmers and Banana Famers, the program
also gave out 50 shovels as part of the raffle draw as well as Open
Source Pumps (OPS) given to Compostela-2 units, Monkayo and New Bataan
with 1 each while other municipalities are scheduled to be given OPS.
