ComVal opens 8th Bulawan Festival with Fun Run



Nabunturan, Compostela Valley, March 2, 2015 - Compostela Valley opens  its 17th Founding Anniversary and 8th Bulawan Festival celebration with the Bulawan Fun Run, March 1, Provincial Capitol, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.

Nearly 5,000 runners from the different Local Government Units (LGUs), government agencies, private institutions and individuals in Comval and other neighboring places participated in this year’s Bulawan Fun.

Gov. Arturo T. Uy, Vice. Gov. manuel Zamora, Cong. Maricar Zamora, and Senior Board Member Tyron Uy joined the thousands of runners in Zumba dance exercise and led the executive run.

For the three-kilometer run (12 years old and below) male category, Marlon Moralde (clocking at 11 minutes or 11:00) of Nabunturan emerged as champion and received PhP3, 000. John Kenneth Castillon (12:09), from Asuncion, Davao del Norte, and Jesser Mike Arias (14:31), also from Nabunturan, finished in the second and third place respectively receiving PhP 2, 000 and PhP1, 000 each.
For the 3K female category, Annie Marry Depone (11:17) and Princess Joy Robles (11:55) of New Corella finished as first and second placers respectively and received PhP3, 000 and PhP2, 000 each. Nova Queen Moralde (14:51) of Nabunturan finished third and received PhP1, 000.

After running five kilometers for the male category, Arlan Arbois (21:26) and Jeorge Andrade (21:34) of Digos City completed the run as first and second placers, respectively, receiving PhP4,500 and PhP3, 000 each. Michael John Echalico (21:43) of Davao City landed on the third place and received PhP 1,500.

For the 5K female category, Judelyn Miranda (26:45), Claren Dojo (29:16) and Marianne Dojo (29:20) all from Tagum City finished as first, second, and third, respectively, receiving PhP4, 500, PhP3, 000 and PhP 1, 500 each.

Proceeds of the Bulawan Fun Run will go to the province’s bayanihan programs like the Barangay Walang Iwanan (BWI), Bayanihan Para sa Karunungan (BPSK) and Bayanihan sa Paralaan.  Bulawan Festival will run on March 1 and 3-8 at the Provincial Capitol Compound with lots of contests, concerts, food fairs, exhibits, and shows for all Comvalenyos and tourists to enjoy.
