DAVAO CITY- The DPWH-XI Regional Office is vigorously implementing the construction/rehabilitation/upgrading of the damaged paved national roads along R. Castillo and Quezon Boulevard.
The R. Castillo road is 1.4 km., now 15.06% as of May 31, 2013 and is scheduled to be completed on December 2013. It is 300 mm. thick and is 4 lanes designed to carry heavy loads and ease traffic along that route.
The project also involves the construction of drainage structures, sidewalk, curb and gutter among others. It is under contract with Monolithic Construction and Concrete Products, Inc.
On the other hand, the reconstruction of Quezon Boulevard road is also on-going. It is 590 meters long and 300 mm. thick. It is under contract with Henry S. Oaminal Construction and General Merchandize. Presently, the DPWH is negotiating with Davao Light and Power Co., (DLPC), PLDT/Globetelecom for the removal and transfer of their electric posts which are within the construction limits of the project.
These roads have elevated roadways and huge lateral drainage pipes and manholes designed to prevent flood waters from overflowing unto the roadways. It is also user-friendly as the DPWH will construct stairs, ramp and dropped curb in accordance with BP344 for easy access of the differently abled persons. It will also be provided with reflectorized thermo plastic pavement markings for traffic safety. The DPWH will likewise construct ramps at intersection point with barangay roads and other local roads for easy access as well as center/intersection island.
DPWH-XI Regional Director Mariano R. ALquiza is appealing to the commuting public to be patient to obey directional signs and to bear with the inconvenience as these are just temporary. (DPWH-XI PIO)
