ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL,January 9, 2014 (PIA) - City Mayor Aniano P. Antalan welcomed the city employees during the first Monday convocation in year 2014 with marching order to be always punctual and diligent in work.
City Mayor Antalan was grateful to the peaceful and fruitful 2013 and welcomed 2014 with lots of challenges for the development of the city that required exemplary performance of the employees.
“Bawal ang tamad ug sige ‘g ka-late sa trabaho, dili magsige ug leave”( being late and lazy in work are forbidden, refrain from always being on leave) City Mayor Aniano P. Antalan said.
Antalan pointed out improvement in tourism destinations and maintaining peace and security as his priority concerns for this year. He as well encouraged all barangays to develop tourists spots in their area.
Likewise, City Vice Mayor Al David Uy welcomed the year of the wooden horse as a lucky year with lots of opportunities which also required swift actions from the 6th City Council on the most debated issue on coastal resource and marine water zone of Igacos.
Vice Mayor Uy was optimistic of a productive year ahead given the established rapport with the local chief executive and the executive department.
During the Department Heads meeting, City Mayor Antalan instructed the department managers particularly the City General Services Office to give strict cost cutting measures for water, electricity and utilization of government resources particularly motorcycles.
Antalan stated the three items to have incurred huge amount in expense in year 2013 that needed abrupt measures to reduce the amount.
He also instructed all the offices to provide assistance to the Licensing Division to hasten the processing of business permits to the ongoing Business One Stop Shop.
Other concerns tackled that need be given prior concerns were the beautification of the city, sports development program and “Dalit serbisyo” that is bringing the speedy services to the people in the barangay. (melrose samal cio)
