DAVAO DEL NORTE, January 30, 2014 (PIA) - The provincial government of Davao del Norte entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the province of Bulacan for the establishment of the Davao del Norte Socio-Economic and Ecological Profiling (SEEP) system that integrates the disaster risk reduction-climate change adaptation (DRR-CCA) concept.
DavNor Governor Rodolfo del Rosario, Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando signed the MOA recently at the Provincial Capitol of Bulacan.
The SEEP system is an upgrade of the socio-economic profile as basic tool of the local government units in the preparation of their local development plans.
Provincial Planning and Development Officer Engr. Josie Jean Rabanos said the province is installing the SEEPS in order to help facilitate the updating of its Provincial Development Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP), specifically the Hazard Profile that will be integrated in the DRR-CCA concept in the plan.
The system is also valuable in the monitoring of programs and projects of the provincial government.
Governor Rodolfo del Rosario thanked the provincial government of Bulacan for its generosity in sharing their SEEPS to the province.
Capitol executives learned of and appreciated the benefit of using the process during their benchmarking activity in Bulacan last July 2013, which was sponsored by the AusAID-funded Provincial Road Management Facility (PRMF).
Under the MOA, Bulacan will provide free installation, training and utilization of the SEEPS to the provincial government of Davao del Norte, including the various cities and municipalities of the province.(Noel Baguio-PIO DavNor)
