BACOLOD CITY, January 30, 2014 (PIA) – The Davao del Norte delegation arrived here Tuesday morning for the opening of the 2014 Batang Pinoy National Championship, oozing with much optimism that they will bring home many of the prized medals in the competition.
The national grassroots sporting event kicked off at about 4 o’clock in the afternoon at the Bacolod City Public Plaza, with some 2,500 participants coming from the various local government units from the regions of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Provincial Sports Coordinator Giovanni Gulanes, who heads the contingent, said the DavNor team is ready to take on worthy opponents from around the country.
He said he is confident the 84 strong delegation will register a strong showing in lawn tennis, athletics, dancesports, karatedo, and volleyball, among other events of the BP national finals for children 15 and below.
Governor Rodolfo del Rosario is rooting for his team, which landed the third spot in the overall medal tally during the recent Batang Pinoy Mindanao Qualifier held at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City last August 2013.
“Good luck and bring home the bacon,” the governor said in a text message sent to Gulanes.(Noel Baguio-DavNor PIO)
