DAVAO DEL NORTE, 30 June (PIA)--- Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon will toe the line with
President Rodrigo Duterte’s bid to aggressively address criminality.
In his
inaugural speech at the new Christ The King Cathedral, Rellon expressed his intention to work in line with President Duterte’s resolve
“to curtail if not to eliminate illegal drugs to generate peace, safety and
security”.
“Sabayan
natin ang Presidente na sugpuin ang droga,” he said to a multitude of supporters from various sectors.
He cited the
President’s focal drive to check criminality, illegal drugs and corruption as
worthy of support of all local government units which are of the same crusade
“especially Tagum City” which he said, will continue to banner “genuine peace
and security”.
He vowed
to give continued assistance and rewards
to personnel of the Philippine National
Police in its efforts to check criminality in Tagum City.
In a separate
press interview after his inaugural ceremony, the city mayor revealed plans to
display “a show of strength” of the law enforcement in Tagum through a parade
of enforcement personnel and “force multipliers”.
He, however,
failed to discuss in detail how this will be done and when, but he envisioned
this move to send the message to criminal that the city government is up
against them “so they better go away”.
