TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, June 17 (PIA) - - With the thrust of cleaning its ranks, two members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) assigned in Tagum City Police Station (TCPS) tested positive in a recent drug test.
Police Chief Inspector Carl Omar Fiel, operations chief of Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office (DNPPO), disclosed that the Provincial Crime Laboratory conducted a random drug testing in TCPS last May 27, which detected the two police non-commissioned officers to have used illegal drugs.
Chief Inspector Fiel said that the names of the personnel will not be released pending their administrative investigation.
DNPPO Director P Senior Supt Ferdinand Sifuentes emphasized that the personnel will face administrative case and will be recommended for dismissal from service.
PSSupt. Sifuentes also bared that the two personnel are now under the strict custody of the TCPS.
Sifuentes underscored that all police stations in the province will undergo drug testing.
“We will not announce the date of testing but rest assured we will do this to all police stations,” he said.
On June 9, a surprised drug test was conducted during a Command Conference in the DNPPO Compound, attended by city and municipal chiefs of police and DNPPO police commissioned officer.
Chief Inspector Fiel noted that during the conference, Provincial Director Sifuentes joined in the drug test; and all of the attendees were tested negative of illegal drugs. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
