TAGUM CITY,
Davao del Norte, June 21 (PIA) - - The Department of Interior and Local
Government (DILG) allocated more than P 353-million worth of projects to all
cities and municipalities in the province from 2012 to 2016.
DILG Davao
del Norte Provincial Director Alex Roldan reported yesterday during the
Orientation of Newly Elected Mayors and Vice-Mayors on the department’s
operations at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan, that all the local government units in
the province received funds from their three banner programs.
The
identified programs were Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA), Bottom-Up
Budgeting (BUB), and Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG).
According to
DILG report, the municipality of Talaingod got the biggest funding with
P93.45-million, followed by Sto. Tomas with P67.3-million and Kapalong with
44.78-million.
Director
Roldan encouraged the mayors and vice-mayors to look into the projects under
the DILG programs as some of the projects were not yet implemented.
He added that
funds of some of the projects, which were charged on 2013 and 2014 budget, will
expire this year and will be reverted back to the coffers once it will not
start implementation this year.
Roldan
stressed that the problem can be attributed by the lack of manpower in the
engineering department of the local government units. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
