TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte,
June 20 (PIA) - - The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a total of 82
individuals involved in illegal drug trafficking in the province from January
to May 2016.
PCI Carl Omar Fiel, chief of
operations of the Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office (DNPPO), reported
during the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting on Friday (June
17) that the police recovered from the drug pushers a total of 55.4486 grams of
marijuana and 205.1577 grams of shabu with a total street value of more than P
2.02 million.
Chief Inspector Fiel
disclosed that as a result of their operations, the police filed 72 cases in
court against the individuals for violating Republic Act 9165 or the
Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Fiel also informed the body
that another 13 individuals were captured during the police’s One Time Big Time
(OTBT) operation in different areas in the province last June 11.
He added that two suspects
died during the OTBT operations as they resisted the arrest through armed
battle with the arresting officers.
Fiel stated that during the
OTBT, the police retrieved 42.0064 grams of shabu and 206.41 grams of marijuana
with a total street value of P 385,281.95.
He emphasized that the DNPPO
already drafted a 6-month strategic plan to curb out illegal drugs in the
province, which includes cleansing the police force from drug users. (PIA11,
