PANABO CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE May 12 (PIA) - “It is the first time that the COMELEC registration last May 6, 2014 was flooded with registrants yet only 92 were officially registered due to the brown-outs,” this was stressed by Panabo City Election Officer Abdul Kadir Tambun.
In its two days of operation, COMELEC Panabo has registered 199 applicants; 92 on May 6 and 107 on May 7. Tambun said they could have accomodated more registrants if not for the brownouts
"This number is very minimal since Panaboans are eager to register for the 2016 election. Unlike the New City Hall, the COMELEC office, located at the Multi-Purpose Panabo Gym, does not have a power generator." Tambun said.
Even the registrants complained about waiting for hours for power to come back since most of them find it difficult to travel back home and return the next day. Stations, such as Radio Rapido 107 AM along with Charm Radio and TV at103.9, and Sky Cable channel 62, are airing information on voters register. Further announcements will be aired on May 15.
