DAVAO DEL NORTE, May 9 (PIA) - - - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) continues to seek participants to the nationwide training program on Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Machine Tool Programming and Operation.
In a letter from the DOST based in the province, Rogelio Corcino, provincial science and technology director, said that their office are accepting applicants for the CNC machinist skills training.
Corcino added that the applicant must be a high school graduate with machining courses from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) or its accredited institution; graduate of a vocational or trade course preferably related to mechanical technology; or college undergraduate, who completed two years of studies preferable engineering courses.
Corcino said that the unemployed participants will be free from registration fee and will be entitled for P 300 daily allowance; while those employed participants will pay P 10,000 and will not be receiving any stipend.
The training will be conducted for 62 days, Mondays to Fridays, with program divided into basic and common competencies for 20 days, core competency for 22 days and industry immersion for 20 days.
Gretchen Patete, science research specialist of the DOST regional office, revealed that the first batch of applicants started their training last March 28 at the TESDA Regional Training Center in Tibungco, Davao City.
Patete added that the second batch will be scheduled as soon as 20 participants will pass the examination and interview. Applicants will be notified on the schedule of examination, she said.
Patete said that the DOST-MIRDC targeted around 800 participants to undergo the training for this year since the Department of Labor and Employment declared the CNC machinist skill as a mission critical skill or the highly in demand skill in the labor market.
