DAVAO DEL NORTE, May 7 (PIA) - - - Davao del Norte Provincial Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario recently instructed his department heads to coordinate with the municipal government of Talaingod after knowing that the Ata-Manobo evacuees failed to comply with an agreement on their return home from Davao City.
Amidst reports that the Ata-Manobo evacuees failed to abide by the agreement made on April 30 in a meeting at the Grand Menseng Hotel Davao, Del Rosario said in an interview that he “will put things in order”.
Del Rosario instructed Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Arlene Semblante and Provincial Health Officer Agapito Hornido to coordinate with the municipal government of Talaingod and come with a win-win solution on the plight of the IPs who recently went back home after evacuating to Davao City.
“I received a text (message) from the support group of the evacuees stating that they had already reached their homes in Talaingod and the evacuees were asking of the items stated in the agreement,” Del Rosario said.
He added that the items were supposed to be given to the evacuees even before they reached home should they have abided by the agreement for them to stop at the evacuation center in Barangay Palma Gil before going to their respective sitios.
“It is in the agreement that the items will be given after they have undergone clearing and medical check-up at the (evacuation) center,” Del Rosario said.
In the dialogue attended by the Ata-Manobo evacuees in Davao City with Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Del Rosario and Talaingod Mayor Basilio Libayao, it was agreed that the IPs were supposed to readily receive food packs, kitchen utensils, mats and farm seedlings at the evacuation center in Barangay Palma Gil.
