PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte, March 18 (PIA) – The City Tourism and Investment Promotion Office here will organize the province-wide Halal Awareness Seminar on March 27 at Madonna Hometel and Suites, Panabo City.
This seminar will be conducted in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Davao del Norte Field Office, Mindanao Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Davao del Norte Investment Promotion Center (DNIPC).
To cater around 50 micro, small and medium enterprises in the food industry, the seminar aims to increase the level of awareness of Halal in the province identified by President Benigno S. Aquino as one of the key priority investment areas with vast global market.
The DNIPC targets to register all local food producers in the province with any Halal certifying body to gain easy market to the Muslim countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia. DTI said there are only four food processors in the province that are Halal certified.
Halal is an Arabic term meaning permissible under the Shariah (Islamic Law). (PIA 11, Michael Uy)
