DAVAO CITY- An 11-hectare property in Davao's bustling Lanang district will soon host a P15-billion township project to be developed by Megaworld.
The property giant whose developments include Eastwood City in Libis, Quezon City, Newport City in Pasay, Mckinley Hill in Taguig and the 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park in Iloilo signaled their entry in Mindanao with a mix-used office and residential development situated in the former Lanang Golf and Country Club owned by the Dakudaos.
Named as the Davao Park District, Megaworld's township will have modern office towers aimed for business process outsourcing companies, there also will be condominiums, malls, commercial strips and a school.
Jericho Go, Megaworld's First Vice-President said the project is expected to generate about 20,000 jobs.
The project is aimed to become Davao City's newest Central Business District and a center for information technology and BPO industries in Mindanao.
Go speaking to reporters during their launch press conference held last March 19 in Marco Polo Hotel Davao said that they are luring Megaworld's existing 130 tenants mostly IT-BPO and multination companies and many has expressed interest in the project.
Go bared that about 5 to 10 locators are interested to put offices in the business park.
Megaworld officials cited Davao's favorable business climate which is friendly to businesses particularly in the aspect of peace and order.
Lanang, a former sleepy suburb in the northern part of the city now hosts major real estate developments like malls, hotels condominums and IT-BPO parks. (PIA/RG Alama)
