NCCA to roll out P95 million for arts, culture projects



 DAVAO CITY:  The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is making available a P95 million fund for various arts and culture projects that will be rolled out under the NCCA Grants Program.

          It  is calling on cultural and arts groups, academic institutions,  local government units,  government agencies, local arts organizations, non-government organizations and private Individuals involved in arts  and culture to submit their project proposals until August 30, 2012.

          Renee T alavera, head of NCCA Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts Section said that NCCA allots P5 million to each of the 19 NCCA committees to fund   the project proposals that best suit their respective concerns.
          Under NCCA’s Sub-commission on the Arts are the committees on Architecture and Allied Arts, Cinema,  Dance, Dramatic Arts, Literary Arts, Music and Visual Arts. The Sub-commission on Cultural Dissemination includes the committees on Language and Translation, Communication and Cultural Education.

          NCCA’s Sub-commission on Cultural Heritage handles six committees on Archives,  Art Gallerie,  Historical Research, Libraries and Information Services, Monuments and Sites, and Museums, and the  Sub-commission on Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts oversees three committees on Central Cultural Communities, Northern Cultural Communities and Southern Cultural Communities.

          Priority projects of the National Committee on Architecture and Allied Arts are production and development of multi-media interactive CD Rom, monograph and audio-visual materials,  exhibition, lecture series and research.
          The National Committee on Cinema is looking for project proposals on screenplay development, post-production, workshops, film festival for non-government organizations, film festival for LGUs/ state universities  and colleges/ national government agencies, publication or archiving.

          The National Committee on Dance prioritizes proposals on dance workshop for teachers in special programs for the arts, dance production grant, LGU cultural assistance program, dance competitions and dance curriculum design.
          The National Commission on Dramatic arts would like to have proposals on regional network building, theater craft development and capability building, production grant, traditional theatre Program.

          The National Commission on Literary Arts is looking for  proposals on creative writing workshops, training workshop for translation, training workshop for criticism, literary competitions, publication of anthologies with translation, writing of literary biographies and literary performances/reading programs.

          The National Committee on Music prefers proposals on applied music training/workshop, annotated performance,  music creation while the National Committee on Visual Arts prioritizes proposals on research and dissemination on creative industries,  visual arts residency, visual arts competitions, visual arts workshops, publication of catalogues, arts in public spaces, urban landscape design competition.
