IGACOS approves Annual Investment Plan



ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL- The City Development Council of the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS)has approved the Annual Investment Plan (AIP) for calendar year 2013 last July 19.

City Councilor Guillermo Olden, Committee on Finance Chairman in behalf of City Mayor Aniano P. Antalan, presided the gathering of about 40 Punong Barangays, fourteen civil society organizations, City Cooperative Development Council, city department heads. City Councilor Jaime Pichon and Richard Guindolman graced the occasion

Engr. Mario S. Pacaldo,City Planning Development Coordinator encouraged the participants to ensure that all their priority projects are included in the AIP 2013 regardless of availability of funds.

The AIP 2013 programs and projects are consolidated and categorized into clusters namely: Social, Economic, Environment, Fiscal, Infrastructure, Protective and Administrative clusters. All involved agencies (local and national), civil society organizations, people’s organizations and local development councils submitted their priority programs, projects and activities with budget to the concerned cluster for inclusion and consideration.

Engr. Darwin S. Arig, City Engineer,  revealed some of the infrastructure projects to be implemented islandwide. He encouraged all the punong barangays to submit their proposed infrastructure projects and stressedthat  all necessary requirements especially the road right of way (RROW) shall have been complied with.

Engr. Arig bared that the DPWH and the Department of Tourism allotted sufficient budget for the concreting of circumferential roads of Island Garden City of Samal being one of the identified tourism destination in Region XI under its Convergence Program.

Engr. Arig likewise, assured road maintenance of the barangays,though he asked patience of punong barangays on the delays on their request since they encountered lots of  problems in their heavy equipment.  He said that aside from the  limited number of our heavy equipment  most of it needs reconditioning and change of spareparts since the equipment had been serving the city for more than ten years already. .(melrose/samalcio)
