MT. APO EXTREME CHALLENGE SET FOR 2012 KALIVUNGAN FESTIVAL


The toughest race is on dubbed as the Mt. Apo eco-challenge is set this coming Aug 25-26, 2012 during the 98th foundation anniversary of Cotabato province.

Gov. Emmylou “Lala” Talino-Mendoza is inviting all eco-adventurers and mountaineering teams all over the country to join the first ever Mt. Apo Extreme challenge, the event has no registration having total cash award of P 155,000 awaits the winners.

The race covers 86 kilometers with 38 kms. mountain climbing and 48 Kms. trail biking . The three (3) man team event is a two (2) day competition, Day 1 Mt. Apo trek and Day 2 cycling. The Mt. Apo race will start in New Israel, Makilala as entry point to Mt. Apo check points include; Mt. Zion; Maag; Peak; lake Venado; Mandarangan trail (overnight Agco, Kidapawan city). The 2nd day is cycling from Agco; Ginatilan;  Kisandal; Magpet poblacion; to finish at Amas, Capitol where awarding ceremony will be done.

All Filipino citizens of 18 years of age with an excellent physical and mental health condition can join the competition. They are required to submit voter’s affidavit or ID, Medical certificate and shall sign a waiver. Mountain bike and mountaineering gears is pre-requisite.
