In an interview with the media, Robredo said his office is on the process of consolidating reports from the fact-finding body of the provincial government of Compostela Valley , and that of DILG’s own sources of investigation.
“Kumpleto na kami. We can say that this happened because of a, b, c, d and e,” he told the media but he refused to divulge categorically what he had found out.
Robredo would want to give concerned officials the benefit of a due process and let them explain their side.
“While we are interested of establishing accountability we are also interested of maintaing the reputation of people who will be affected because we did not accord due process,” he said.
Robredo wanted to dig deeper into the causes leading to the landslide incident in Diat Uno in Barangay Napnapan, Pantukan of Compostela Valley Province that happened early January this year. About 40 were found dead but dozens were still missing.
Robredo wanted to find out why many died when the provincial government had enforced its “No Habitation Policy” which prohibits residences and commercial establishments in the mining sites.
In response, Provincial Gov. Arturo Uy created a fact-finding body which he tasked to act independently to trace failure to comply with the No Habitation Policy and to determine at what level did the provincial government had fallen short.
Uy Thursday said that the fact-finding body had already submitted its report to the office of Secretary Robredo. (PIA-11/jeanevive duron-abangan)
