Phoenix basketball cup players lead their school to national championship


DAVAO CITY, Mar. 8 (PIA) – Assumption College of Davao captured the high school division championship crown in their game against Malay Boracay National High School-Aklan in the finals held at the CSI Stadia in Dagupan on March 2, 2012.
The score was 69-55.

Some of the Assumption’s team members are players of the 16-under Trip Ko Phoenix Fuels Basketball Cup Season 3. Among them are Alfred Joshua Capeding, John Vincent Cal, Patrick Quidato, Jvannesic Arcillas Tarranza, Bosh Tarranza, and Jan Bacong.

Coaches of the Trip Ko Basketball Cup Dong Cagampang, Dindo Pastor and Nick Serafica also led their team Jose Maria College Kings to victory as champion of the 64th National Students Basketball Championship college division. The team won against Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals with a score of 93-85 on March 1, Thursday in a game held at the CSI
Staja in Dagupan City.

 The collegiate champion will represent the country in the Southeast Asian level eliminations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June, and the winner will compete in the Asian championship.

 The on-going third season of the Trip Ko Phoenix Fuels Basketball Cup opened on January 28, 2012 with 120 players composing the eight teams: Cyclomax Titan, Cyclomax 4T, Zoelo Extreme, Zoelo Diesel, Accelerate Vega, Accelerate
Supreme, and two new teams, Cycle Fork and 2T Max. The championship will be held on March 24, 2012.

 The teams are handled by veteran coaches: Alex Albores, Avel Guno, Alberto Malmao, Aladin Saldua, Allan Josol, Bambie Santander, Dong Cagampang, Dindo Pastor, Elias Resurreccion, Ice Gravador, Jesus Pido, Nick Serafica, Rhoderick Conda, Rhoel Josol, and Eddie Salac. The whole tournament is headed by Commissioner Cadel Mosqueda and Tournament
Director Goldie Delvo.

 The Trip Ko Phoenix Fuels Basketball Cup is presented and organized by Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc. It is the first and only non-school based tournament for the youth in Davao City. (Phoenix/PR)
