DAVAO DEL
NORTE, March 31 (PIA) - - After two weeks of blackout, the Island Garden City
of Samal will experience again the power of electricity tomorrow as the
6-megawatt modular generator set will be in operation.
Davao del Norte
Electric Cooperative (DANECO) Manager Charles Bejod confirmed that they are now
installing the modular genset that arrived by batches starting yesterday (March
29).
“Paningkamotan
namo ni nga mapaandar ugma sa hapon o labing dugay sa pagkadlawon (We will try
to switch on tomorrow afternoon or the most on the following dawn,” Bejod
swore.
DANECO signed
a contract with the Mindoro Grid Corporation in a power supply agreement (PSA)
for the use of the modular genset.
“PSA mani,
bayaran lang nato kung pila atong na nagamit (Since this is under a PSA, we
will pay only for the scope of our usage,” he added.
The island
has been in blackout since March 1 as a vessel hit the submarine cable of
DANECO, which connects Samal to the power grid. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
