TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, March 18 (PIA) - - As they are still
having an assessment on the extent of damage of the submarine cable, the Davao
del Norte Electric Cooperative (DANECO) will get 5-8MW modular generator set to
supply electricity for the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS).
DANECO Manager Charles Bejod disclosed in an interview that their
management is now transacting with the Mindoro Grid Corporation for a generator
set.
Bejod affirmed that they can have the generator set by March 24 or
Maundy Thursday.
He also bared that their management including Project Supervisor
Engr. Godofredo Guya is now in Manila for its legal action against Seaview
Shipping Cargo Corporation, the owner of M/V Ecuador.
The anchor of the vessel hit yesterday at 9:53AM the submarine
cable of DANECO that caused total blackout in the whole island.
Meanwhile, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council
of IGACOS held earlier today a meeting to discuss the power outage problem,
which also affected the provision of water from the Samal Water District.
IGACOS City Information Officer Melrose Arig emphasized that the
city government will provide a 50-60KVA generator set to the water district for
its water distribution services.
Arig also warned the public to be careful in lighting up candles
during nighttime to avoid any fire incident. (PIA 11, Michael Uy)
